TWO/12: Minimalist calendar for Feb (Alan Rickman)

February is just around the corner, and I’ve created a second poster design for my series of minimalist poster and desktop wallpaper calendars called Twelfths!

Created in response to my lack of use of desktop calendars, this series of designs are posters first, calendars second. In a minimalist fashion, I’ve re-designed the calendar (located the the bottom of the posters) so only the essential, minimal details are left: the weekends and holidays.

Every month’s design would feature a celebrity whose birthday falls on that month, and in February we have:

A renowned stage actor in modern and classical productions, Alan Rickman is probably most famous (to younger audiences) for his portrayal of the character Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies, although he has played other notable characters such as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Just like the previous design, the graphic was drawn using Illustrator and finalized in Photoshop, using as little strokes and colours as possible while bringing up the most prominent features of her face. A deliberate minimal use of words (his name, birthday and the logo on the top right corner are the only words) results in a rather stark minimalism that doesn’t give up on function.

And as with the previous design, I’ve created a desktop wallpaper version as well!
