Coffeeshop Talk (not its actual name) is a cafe located at the heartlands of Singapore that aims to create a homey place where coffee brings people together. I was approached to create a logo design that reflects the cafe’s unique homey, heartlands theme.
With this brief, I created three logo designs, each reflecting slightly different aspects of Coffeeshop Talk.
The client eventually stopped corresponding altogether – for reasons still unknown to me – so this project was uncompleted and no final logo design/direction was selected.
The first design was inspired by Coffeeshop Talk’s strong focus on creating conversation among people in the estate through coffee.
In the second design, the focus is on the homey theme of Coffeeshop Talk, and so I decided to incorporate elements of home and coffee.
I played with negative space in this design, hiding a mug of coffee in the door of the house. This creates a little brain teaser as the mind flicks between the negative space of the mug and the coloured space of the house, resulting in a logomark that’s more memorable.
Design 3 is created to highlight the heartland location of Coffeeshop Talk, and is graphically inspired by HDB flats in Singapore.
